Navigating CanAvenue

This webinar will guide language instructors on functionality of the CanAvenue resource. Language instructors will be shown nuances of specific activity types and be provided with the attributes of the CanAvenue LMS. Suggestions for instructors who wish to consider CanAvenue and how it can benefit their students will be offered.

Learners can use CanAvenue to:

  • orient themselves to Canadian formal language training,
  • actively learn through remedial learning,
  • perform extracurricular work on their own or as suggested by an instructor,
  • improve their independent language learning skills, and
  • build CanAvenue circles with family or friends.

Participants will see:

  • CanAvenue tour,
  • CanAvenue design principles, and
  • highlighted activity types.

About the Presenter

John (he/him) is an educator who works in the technology enhanced language learning field who creates online learning opportunities and mentors instructors on the Avenue and CanAvenue projects. He has experience teaching ESL and EFL in Canada and the Middle East. He holds an MSC in Computer Assisted Language learning, an M.Ed. in Distance Education, a TESL B.Ed., a B.Ed. (OCT), and a variety of TESL relevant certifications from TESL Canada, TESL Ontario, and the Ontario Ministry of Education.
