College and Universities Committee Series

This is an informal conversation and discussion facilitated by two members of the TESL Ontario Colleges/Universities Committee. This event will provide a forum for participants to share their teaching/learning experiences in the ESL/EAP post-secondary sector. Participants can express their positive/negative experiences and strategies to navigate this challenging time in the sector.

This event provides an opportunity for sharing:

  • your recent positive/negative experiences teaching in the colleges/university sector,
  • your concerns about the future in teaching EAP/ESL in the colleges/university sector, and
  • your strategies to navigate the challenges faced in teaching EAP/ESL in the colleges/university sector.

About the Presenters

Our presenters have been members of the TESL Ontario Colleges and Universities committee for the past two years.

Ivan Su is a full-time faculty member in the EAP program for Centennial College and has taught a variety of post-secondary ESL courses for colleges and universities since 2016. He holds an MA in TESOL and has been a language educator for the past 20+ years, teaching in Japan and Canada.

Parisa Nafissi Rad is an instructor and content developer with over 15 years of experience at Niagara College, the Toronto Catholic District School Board, and the University of Toronto. She holds an MA in Linguistics, along with an OCELT certificate, with global teaching experience in Iran, Malaysia, Colombia, and Canada.
