Create Level-Appropriate Listening Activities

Cedric Mwambi-Kabongo & Raji Sathya
November 25, 2026
7:00 - 8:00 pm ET

Where does your prep time go when you need level-appropriate listening audio? What makes a listening task truly benchmark-aligned, not just on-topic? And how do you check comprehension at different cognitive levels, without writing every question by hand?

This session walks through a repeatable workflow for building benchmark-aligned listening activities, using AI as a drafting partner. We start from a blank page and end with a finished task: a leveled dialogue, its audio, and comprehension questions sorted by cognitive level. The focus stays on the method and teaching decisions, so it works with whatever tools you already use.

Key points to be covered:

  • A repeatable process for generating a listening dialogue at a target benchmark level.
  • How to create comprehension questions across literal, interpretive, and applied levels.
  • Practical checks to confirm AI-generated audio matches the intended level.
  • Time-savers for turning one dialogue into a complete listening activity.
