This webinar will address those questions. The presenter will cover what props and visuals teachers can use for each module they teach, and the role play or dialogue that can go along with it. She’ll address how instructors can help the students feel they are in the actual environment. For example, how to make a student understand requests or commands, such as “Here you go” by someone actually handing them something in their hand.
Key points to be covered:
Technique: Total Physical Response – touching the item/prop while saying the words together in unison, or completing an action.
Grammatical Knowledge: what words go in order. For example, “Here you go”, not “Here go”.
Textual Knowledge: the act of taking turns in conversation – question and answer.
Functional Knowledge: Requests pertaining to a situation. For example, in a supermarket you greet the cashier or ask the cost, or the cashier asks if you need a bag.
Sociolinguistic Knowledge: register and tone – supermarket vs bank.
Strategic Competence: using gestures to get across a message.
Webinar Type: Teaching Best Practices
Categories: Lesson Planning/Ideas
Teaching Sectors: All sectors
