This webinar intends to present an overview of language assessment in multilingual classes in different settings, answering fundamental questions: what needs to be assessed (CLB Benchmarks; CEFR; traditional approaches), how to design assessment tasks, and how to integrate them into lesson planning (PBLA principles). The presentation offers solutions to assessment challenges in the online setting.

  • Defining language proficiency assessment (Norris & Ortega, 2013), how to effectively utilize CLB components of assessment (the importance of negotiated feedback).
  • Designing assessment tasks principles and practical examples based on experiences with portfolio assessment in CLB 5-8 classes.

About the Presenter

In her research and teaching, Dr. Kasia Kasztenna focused on the theory and history of literary discourse, publishing on these subjects. She is currently active as a college communication professor and PBLA Lead instructor. Kasia’s studies in Applied Linguistics led her to explorations in the field of sociocultural theory and participation in the experimental application of plurilingual instruction in digital literacy for learners of foundational English.
