This presentation will explore the client centred and innovative HyFlex (hybrid & flexible) service delivery model. This HyFlex model accommodates learners’ needs such as accessing language training in-person, virtually, or using a combination of both. It details the integration of multi-media equipment, tools and digital navigation support to facilitate effective language training.

Art Rekhtin is a Certified Project Management Professional with extensive experience leading cross-functional teams on digital and classic projects in not-for-profit organizations. Also, he is an Ontario Certified English Language Teacher. Art is well versed in delivering English Language Training in a variety of formats, including traditional in-person, virtual, and hybrid modes. Since he joined Caledon Community Services in 2022 as a Manager of Newcomer Programs, his goal has been to facilitate a smooth transition to HyFlex mode of service delivery and support his team in doing so.
Art has volunteered with TESL Ontario in various capacities, including the North York and York Region affiliate chapter executive committee and the board of directors.
Suma Balagopal is an experienced professional with extensive expertise in language training. Suma has been a dedicated team member at Caledon Community Services since 2007, where she currently works as the Lead LINC instructor. Her role was pivotal during the COVID-19 pandemic, leading the transition from in-person to virtual learning, and eventually to the innovative HyFlex model.

Gurimandeep Kaur is a dedicated professional with over four years of committed service in the LINC program at Caledon Community Services. She has excelled in providing language education to newcomers, ensuring that they feel welcomed and equipped to thrive in the new country.
Along with her extensive LINC experience, Gurimandeep has over a year of experience as a Digital Navigator, also at Caledon Community Services. In this role, she demonstrates a strong aptitude for guiding individuals through the complexities of digital tools and resources, helping them develop essential digital literacy skills. Her ability to bridge the gap between technology and users has made her an invaluable asset in the LINC classroom.
Her combined expertise of language instruction and digital navigation skills shows her versatility and dedication to empowering others through education and technology.
